CANTON, OHIO, October 5, 2021 – PangeaKeto bistro and grocer is now open in the Discount Drug Mart plaza on Portage street. This is the second Ohio location for the Keto diet focused store and fast casual restaurant. The original PangeaKeto opened at the Hartville Marketplace in 2018 and is now relocating into 3,000 square feet in front of The Home Depot and BJ’s in Belden Village.

PangeaKeto was co-founded by Jeff Zucal in 2015 to promote healthy eating in the community after he was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. Zucal weighed 345 pounds, suffered from sleep apnea, and knew that pricking his finger, self-administering injections, and wearing a CPAP mask nightly was not the way he wanted to live the rest of his life. After undergoing gastric bypass surgery, Zucals surgeon told him he would need to make big dietary changes in order for his surgery to have the intended lasting impact.

In search of a healthier lifestyle Zucal discovered Keto, short for the Ketogenic Diet, which is a low carb, high fat diet that involves drastically reducing carbohydrate consumption and replacing it with fat. After adapting the diet, he quickly realized there were few companies selling well formulated Ketogenic products. As a serial entrepreneur who has founded and sold numerous businesses, he knew he was well positioned to fill the void.

“We are thankful for the staff and loyal customers at the Hartville Marketplace and can’t wait to serve them our same great products and more at our expanded location” says Jeff Zucal

PangeaKeto will offer pre-packaged chef prepared meals, snacks, gluten free items and bakery products in addition to the made to order menu served quick service style. The new space is located at 4891 Portage Street NW and will be open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, seven days a week. Details around the founder’s story, menu items, and more can be found at pangeaketo.com.
